Drag Race Between the Hummer H1 and Suzuki Jimny

It's very unlikely that you'll see off-road vehicles going head-to-head in drag races. As a general rule, this is not their natural habitat, as they are designed to overcome off-road obstacles, face mud and challenge the most unstable and slippery surfaces on the planet. These two cars have been designed with great off-road skills, so their engines are usually not very powerful, nor do they accelerate very quickly or reach high speeds.

If we take a closer look at each of the opponents, we can see that the Hummer H1 is powered by a 6.5-litre V8 turbodiesel engine with 197PS of power and 583Nm of peak torque. It is associated with a four-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system that drags the 3.6 tons of weight that it registers on the scale.

In contrast, Suzuki's little 4x4 takes a somewhat different approach, opting for a modest 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 101bhp and peak torque of just 130Nm. It is also equipped with an all-wheel drive system that gives it great off-road maneuverability, but, in this case, it is associated with a five-speed manual gearbox. In addition, its weight is just 1.1 tons, or what is the same, 70% less than the H1.

You will first see the two off-roaders face off in a drag race starting from a standstill, as well as a second attempt launching from around 50 km/h.
